A Doctor’s Fight
Dr. Natalie Valdez went through chemotherapy, raised her child by herself and still managed to work as an anesthesiologist at North Florida Regional Medical Center when diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.
Against the Odds
Kristina Campbell was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She was received radiation treatment at the Cancer Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

FWC, UF team up to monitor fox squirrels
The Sherman’s and Big Cypress fox squirrels are part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Imperiled Species Management Plan, which began earlier this year. This blueprint is designed to conserve 60 animals on Florida’s Endangered and Threatened Species list.

National Public Lands Day was established in 1994 by the National Environmental Education Foundation. The annual event is held on the last Saturday of September and has attracted volunteers from around the country to help clean up public lands in their communities.
One-woman show portrays life of actress Vivien Leigh
Soap opera actress Judith Chapman will star in Rick Foster’s “Vivien,” a one-woman show about the “Gone With the Wind” actress. Chapman said the play, which celebrates Vivien Leigh’s centennial birthday, showcases the brilliance, beauty and damaged soul of Leigh. The play will be in the Fine Arts Hall, Santa Fe College, 3000 NW 83rd St. on Sept, 14, 2013.
Spirit of Faith tonight celebrates acquisition of Dove World property
After six months of raising money to purchase a new property for the church, the Spirit of Faith Center will open its doors Sept. 11, 2013 at its Dream Center property.
