Paynes Prairie encompasses about 22,000 acres between Gainesville and Micanopy and although visitors can walk down its trails, those driving by the national state park can view part of the landscape at several overlooks.

The city of Archer in Alachua County recently decided to draft an ordinance, or law, to move its city elections from the fall to spring. Commissioners voted 5-0 for the new election date during a city commission meeting on Monday.
